All my Classes and Workshops for Fall!

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had as good a summer as I’ve had. I enjoyed plenty of time in the studio and have some really fun new works to show for it. You can check those out on my previous post here:

All the usual teaching venues will be active this fall, as well a a few fun Workshops. There will also be a Clear Colour Mixing Workshop in December that will be posted in mid September so I’ll make sure to let you all know when that is upon the Swintons website.

Acrylic Painting Basics

Monday, October 16 – December 4

6:30 – 9:30pm

Acrylic paints are so versatile and perfect for those who are new to painting. Learn the basics of colour theory, paint mixing, application techniques, and composition. Watercolour Painting Basics

Thursday, October 12 – November 30

6:30 – 9:30pm

$373.00 incl GST

Watercolours can be challenging to work with, especially if you are new to painting, but understanding some basic techniques will guarantee success. Learn how to stretch paper, proper brush handling, how to work wet-on-wet or dry brush along with some tricks of the trade and gain skills as you work through projects. Please see your course supply list online. Be sure to come prepared for the first class.

Intrigued by abstraction but intimidated? Come find out what it is, why we make it and how to make it – all in Acrylics. It’s easier than you think. 

What makes a good abstract painting when you don’t know what subject you’re looking at? Good design is the key – and this is how we can get there. Colour theory, mixing, design and composition and some crazy technique stuff.

Acrylic MIXED MEDIA Collage

Sat, October 14, Sun, October 15
9:30am – 3:30pm, both days

Acrylics are so cool because they do so much!  Come and have a great painting experience as we collage, stamp, and splash paint on panels. Along with great info about colour and design we’ll be having the most fun just letting our intuition go with the flow.

The more you do this, the faster your skills build, no kidding. Use it for journalling, practicing techniques, planning projects, whatever you like. Keeping a sketchbook is a terrific tool for improving all your art work. Which materials work best, how to begin, proceed and advance. Let’s get into it!!
