Watercolour Painting Basics
Thursdays, Oct 9-Nov 27, 6:30 – 9:30pm

Watercolours can be challenging to work with, especially if you are new to painting, but understanding some basic watercolour handling and techniques will guarantee success. Learn how to stretch paper, proper brush handling, how to work wet-on-wet or dry-brush along with some tricks of the trade and gain skills as you work through projects.

Recover Your Natural Drawing Ability-Drawing with your Inner 4 Year old

No kid under 6 years old thinks they can’t draw. Or sing or dance or paint. I’ve taught art for over 25 years and I see folks all the time who are intimidated by drawing. I’ve also taught a Children’s Book illustration Course for a very long time and I’ve had an idea to combine my experiences with those things and offer a way into drawing freedom – or a least fun. Let’s get back to drawing like our inner 4 year olds did and have some fun doing it.

Dynamic Charcoal Portraits
Sat, Sun, December 6&7

Using one of the most simple and elegant of all drawing materials, vine charcoal, to create beautiful portraits. Learn Lori’s favorite subtractive drawing technique and an effective technique for achieving proper facial proportions and feature placement. Day one we will deal with adult faces and day 2 we will do children’s, which are quite different. You will need to do the first to understand the second.
The Subtractive drawing technique consists of toning a piece of white bond paper with a large stick of vine charcoal, and then both drawing into and erasing into the charcoal in a lovely back and forth dance until the desired degree of finish is achieved. Simple, elegant, almost meditative and the best of all, it’s VERY forgiving.

Clean Reliable Colour for Painters

Huntington Pioneers is a social club for 50+, which offers many interesting activities. You need to be a member to join the Art Group.
Our Art Group is also ongoing on Tuesdays. As most of you know I specialize in an Art Fundamentals and I have a lots of knowledge and experience with art materials of many kinds. And I’ve been teaching for over 25 years. I can help you get going.
Beginners 9:30-11:30am
Intermediate from 12-3pm.

On Zoom, which I love, works so much better than I thought it would, and you don’t have to pack up your stuff and leave home. I send the links the day of the class. Each class is $25 paid monthly by Interac, so sometimes it $100/month, sometimes it’s $125.
